NIKE x CARHARTT WIP Iconic Silhouettes x Iconic Fabrics
Launching Holiday 18, Nike x Carhartt WIP have come together on a footwear collection. The pack combines Nike’s iconic sneaker silhouettes with Carhartt WIP’s signature fabrics, creating a new expression of streetstyle.
Established in 1989, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) takes the rough and rugged spirit of original Carhartt workwear, and refines and adapts it for a new audience — one appreciative of considered, durable garments, but also a contemporary design perspective.
For this collection, core Carhartt WIP materials, such as Dearborn Canvas in Hamilton Brown and black, and Camo Tiger Ripstop are utilized to update signature Nike sneakers; the Air Force 1 Low, Vandal Supreme High, Air Force 1 Low Utility, and Air Max 95.
The accompanying campaign features musician Flohio, photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis, and professional skater and sculptor Max Palmer. The three artists hail from London, Paris, and NYC with their respective cities informing their creative practice.
Over the years, both Nike and Carhartt WIP have become counter-cultural signifiers, in the clubs of Detroit and Berlin, and on the streets of cities like Paris, London and Tokyo. With shared ideals of hard work and independent creativity, the Nike x Carhartt WIP pack celebrates those who push the culture forward in cities across the globe.
Product Details: Two icons collide. The Nike x Carhartt WIP Air Force 1 Low borrows details and fabrics from the Carhartt WIP Michigan Chore Coat, and applies them to the Air Force 1 Low. The upper features Carhartt WIP’s 12oz Dear- born Canvas in Hamilton Brown, offset by tobacco corduroy paneling. The footbed takes inspiration from the striped blanket lining of the Michigan Chore Coat.
The Nike x Carhartt WIP Air Force 1 Utility Low takes this iconic silhouette and reworks it to include a new ballistic nylon strap with a magnetic buckle and a bold orange Swoosh. Created in Carhartt WIP’s Camo Tiger Ripstop fabric, this sneaker reflects the innovative approach to design favored by both brands, as classics are constantly reworked and reimagined.
The Nike x Carhartt WIP Air Max 95 features color pops of neon orange and 3M reflective detailing, applied to the tongue label, lacestay and heel panel. The upper is constructed from durable Carhartt WIP fabrics, including ripstop, mesh and corduroy.
The Nike x Carhartt WIP Vandal Supreme High is constructed from black Dearborn canvas and corduroy, with subtle 3M reflective detailing applied to the Swoosh outline. An original basketball silhouette, it also features an adjustable ankle strap and internal heel padding inspired by the wool blanket lining of the Carhartt WIP Michigan Chore Coat. As with all four sneakers, the left tongue label is adorned with Nike branding, while the right includes Carhartt WIP’s ‘C’ logo.
